It's all over the news here in the USA.
Such a tragedy! I'm so sorry this is happening. And to think these people supposedly have a religious faith. It's just awful.

if a dub needed your help as in a medical emergency or in getting employment/job contract or in getting your support in a dispute with someone on a non religious issue or in some other way such as in a car break down would you help them?
I treat JWs the same as I do everybody else. The same way I'd like to be treated.

maybe i missed an early post on the death of luther, but i just wanted to state that i am a big fan of his music and knowing that i will not ee him again in concert or wait with anticipation his next cd certainly makes me sad..
I really enjoyed his music. What a wonderful, melodious voice he had.

this past sunday the husband and i went to the car races at near by speed way to watch the races and the fireworks that is put on there everyyear on the 4th of july ,usually he heads to the bathroom is his excuse not to stand for the athem but this time when it was announced for all to stand he looked at me as i was rising and said to me " do you want me to stand ,and i said yes ,you are only standing so what is the big deal".
i was so happy just for the fact that he stood there against the laws of the wt and folks,he wasn't struck down dead and no demons took over he body as of yet.. i really don't care if he believes in his country or not but i want him to feel it for his own reasons and not because the wt told him that it is naughty and against their laws, so for me i hope this is some kind of break through..
JW do stand in sign of respect for the national anthem. What true JWs do not do is place their hand in the heart and repeat the anthem.
I stand in sign of respect. Always will. Don't think I'll ever pledge allegiance to any flag or country, though.

i was bad!
we went to our cabin friday night till sunday.
i went through 3 cases of buttlight!
Got together at the beach and another time at a friend's house for a cookout.
It was fun this long weekend! Nobody exceeded their alcohol limits. It's more fun and nobody gets in trouble that way.
Saw fireworks. Soooooooo pretty!

now that i got your attention, here`s a quote from the wt, february 1952:.
"really, our colored brothers have a great cause for rejoicing.
their race is meek and teachable, and from it comes a high percentage of the theocratic increase.
Yes, it can perceived as a racist remark in this day and age.
Please look at the date when it was published and it will help you understand. Also, look at many other publications from other religious/political/etc. organizations and you will find writings alike this one. However, society has evolved.
Let us think and use common sense.

they make all these claims about believing the bible but always refer questions back to the governing body of jw's.
so, who is the final authority on the scriptures for the jw's?
is it really the bible or what some men decipher to be what the bible says?
To answer the subject title question: Yes, JWs do believe the Bible. Whole heartedly. However, they have quite the unique understanding of the Word.

i just read a post that said the audience was not obediently clapping at the convention when the speakers made wild statements (presumably with the rising nazi voice).
did anyone else notice this.. will others look out for it at their dc and tell us?.
i'm not going.. bwaaaaahhhhhhh.
At conventions, just like at the Public Talk meeting on Sundays, I only clap (out of courtesy and good manners) when the speaker is done and leaving.
There are many compulsive clappers at the DC and other smaller conventions. It's just soooo silly.
